This esteemed role involves enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws, as well as facilitating legitimate trade and travel. As a Customs Protection Officer, you will be part of the Department of Homeland Security workforce, working towards securing our nation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect individuals and conveyances to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Determine admissibility for entry into the United States.
  • Prevent the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods.

Benefits and Career Advancement:

This career ladder position offers annual base salary ranging from $40,332 to $109,952 per year, with opportunities for promotion up to GS-12. Additionally, CBPOs receive comprehensive federal benefits, including health, dental, vision, sick and annual leave, and retirement plans.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:

  1. GS-5: Three years of full-time general work experience or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. GS-7: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level, including inspections, law enforcement, and regulatory compliance, or a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (3.0+ GPA) or one year of graduate-level education.

Training and Development:

Successful candidates will undergo two-week paid pre-academy orientation followed by 101-day CBP Field Operations Academy training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA. This comprehensive training program covers law enforcement procedures, immigration law, Spanish language, physical fitness, and firearms.
