Why Join Us If you're looking for a place to grow, make an impact, and work with people who care, we'd love to meet you About the Role As a Database Migration Specialist, you will spearhead the transformation of cloud-based databases into high-performance, self-hosted solutions, delivering cost savings and stronger operational control. You’ll lead end-to-end migration strategies, optimize performance, and ensure robust security, while collaborating with a skilled, innovative team. This role offers a unique chance to shape critical infrastructure, expand expertise in PostgreSQL/MySQL, and make a lasting impact on system resilience and efficiency. What You Will Do Plan & Assess: Audit current RDS setup, run cost analysis, define migration strategy, risk plan, and infra requirements Build & Secure: Configure self-hosted DB servers, implement HA clustering/replication, harden security, and deploy monitoring/alerting with automated backups Migrate & Validate: Execute zero-downtime migration, update app connections, verify data integrity, benchmark performance, and maintain rollback options Document & Transfer: Deliver runbooks, dashboards, maintenance schedules, and conduct knowledge-transfer sessions with internal teams Maintain & Support: Provide ongoing optimization, backup/DR validation, and performance monitoring post-migration Must Haves 5+ years of experience with database administration and migrations Expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL/MySQL Proven experience migrating from AWS RDS to self-hosted solutions Strong Linux system administration skills Experience with database clustering and replication (e.g., RDS, Aurora, PostgreSQL, MySQL) Proficiency in backup and disaster recovery solutions Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) Upper-Intermediate English level Nice to Haves Previous cost optimization projects with documented savings Experience with database performance tuning and optimization Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix) AWS to on-premises migration experience Database security and compliance best practices Perks and Benefits Professional growth: Accelerate your professional journey with mentorship, TechTalks, and personalized growth roadmaps Competitive compensation: We match your ever-growing skills, talent, and contributions with competitive USD-based compensation and budgets for education, fitness, and team activities A selection of exciting projects: Join projects with modern solutions development and top-tier clients that include Fortune 500 enterprises and leading product brands Flextime: Tailor your schedule for an optimal work-life balance, by having the options of working from home and going to the office – whatever makes you the happiest and most productive Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at AgileEngine by 2x We’re unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
