The Founded in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN agency for Migration, is the leading intergovernmental organization in migration. With 175 member states, eight observer states, and offices in over 170 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting safe, orderly, and dignified migration for the benefit of all people. To achieve this, it supports migrants worldwide by developing effective responses to the changing dynamics of migration and providing guidance on migration policies and practices. The organization collaborates with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to increase the resilience of people on the move, especially those in vulnerable situations. Additionally, it works closely with governments to manage all forms of mobility and their impacts, including operations in some of the world's most complex emergencies.Present in Brazil since 2016, IOM has already supported the voluntary return of 7,357 Brazilians, of whom 1,316 in situations of greater vulnerability received reintegration subsidies. IOM believes that sustainable reintegration is achieved when returnees attain economic self-sufficiency, social stability in their communities, and psychosocial well-being, enabling them to cope with (re)migration variables. When this occurs, returnees can make migration decisions based on choice, not necessity. Portugal is one of the main countries of destination and Brazilian nationals represent a percentage that varies from 75 to 90% of total returnees assisted. In the last five years ARVoRe project assisted more than 1000 Brazilian nationals, from these 15% benefited from reintegration support.In this context, Brazilian citizens represent more than 80% of those returned by the ARVoRe program, returning to diverse areas, often far from the existing IOM Brazil offices. To contribute to the sustainability of the reintegration process for these migrants, the ARVoRe IX project cofunded by Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF 2030) of European Union (UE) and by the Portuguese Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum, is committed to increasing its capacity for reintegration assistance and monitoring. IOM will continue to collaborate with a network of local organizations to support and monitor returnees' reintegration process according to the reintegration methodology. ARVoRe IX aims to contribute to a dignified and safe return. Additionally, the program aims to support these individuals in achieving sustainable reintegration in their country of origin, ensuring full respect for their human rights, regardless of their migration status.RESPONSIBILITIESWork plan with the methodology for producing the documents, materials, and products listed below. Moreover, the report should include recommendations on how IOM can strengthen partnerships with the private sector with a view to supporting sustainable reintegration. It should also address the role of the diaspora and migrant associations in Portugal and Brazil, providing recommendations on the role they can play in ensuring continuity of return.
