Certified Nursing Assistant - LTC - New Sign‑On Bonus / Increased Shift Differential Good Shepherd Rehabilitation • Belém, Pará, Brasil Job Summary Good Shepherd Home Bethlehem is a 60‑bed long‑term care facility that offers intermediate, heavy, or skilled nursing care for persons with physical disabilities ages 18 years and older. This position is a three‑quarter time role (19 hrs/week) during the evening shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM). The successful candidate will provide personal care, collect patient data, respond to resident requests, maintain a clean clinical environment, and support the clinical team. Responsibilities Enhances the effectiveness of the clinical team by collecting patient data, responding to resident/patient requests, providing personal care, and maintaining the clinical environment. Prioritize, plan, and complete patient care as assigned. Attend to personal care needs. Assist with patient transfers and ambulation. Obtain accurate vital signs and other clinical parameters and specimens including blood sugar readings, EKGs, and drawn blood samples. Respond to patient requests. Request RN or LPN supervision for new or unfamiliar tasks. Review policy and procedures prior to performing unfamiliar tasks. Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and associates. Promote customer service by greeting patients, visitors, and associates in person and on the telephone. Answer questions within the scope of practice. Relay calls to patients. Give directions. Refer inquiries to clinical staff and physicians. Communicate information by collecting and documenting in the patient record. Provide clinical reports at regular intervals to fellow nursing assistants and nurses. Notify RNs of significant findings or changes in patient condition. Record information in the chart as soon as possible after collection. Record intake/output totals at the end of the shift or at specified times. Record patient activity and care on the chart. Maintain patient confidence and organizational confidentiality by keeping information confidential. Respond to patient requests using tact and diplomacy. Operate patient care equipment, including blood glucose monitor, blood pressure cuffs, lifts, and scales, according to policy and procedure. Observe patient response to care. Engage patient in conversation and act upon responses or requests. Provide a safe and clean working environment by completing environmental rounds. Keep patient rooms, supply rooms, and hallways free from clutter. Apply infection control policies and procedures to daily practice. Perform unit‑specific equipment checks and maintenance duties. Meet dress code requirements and maintain adequate personal hygiene. Support unit efficiency by cleaning and restocking patient equipment. Assist with cleaning and monitoring of equipment. Contribute to PI activities. Use equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Report maintenance and equipment issues per policy. Report to the assigned unit on time, ready to meet the responsibilities and punch in/out per Good Shepherd policy and keep an electronic time sheet as necessary. Maintain technical knowledge by identifying learning needs, attending educational workshops, seeking resources, reading unit memos and minutes, and meeting ongoing mandatory education requirements. Contribute to organizational team effort by arriving on duty as scheduled, maintaining attendance, demonstrating flexibility, acting as support personnel, and performing assigned duties independently. Offer assistance to other associates with patient care and unit activities that arise during the shift. Participate in orienting new employees. Qualifications High School Diploma required. One‑year acute or long‑term experience; certification preferred. Depending on your assigned location, you must attend and successfully complete St. Luke's Health Network Associate Patient Care Course and BLS course during the initial orientation period following hire (or demonstrate evidence or previous equivalent training determined through competency testing), and reach a level of independent competency in mastering all aspects of the position including the phlebotomy (blood drawing) component within 90 days of hire. CPR certification for the health care worker. Comparable to the requirement for licenses and certifications. Additional Requirements and Settings Good Shepherd’s Universal Flu Program requires influenza vaccinations for all associates, licensed independent practitioners, contracted, agency, temporary employees, students, and volunteers.
