We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer to join our engineering team for a digital transformation project. You will play a key role in developing and implementing robust, scalable backend services for a modern portal. As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for building services, APIs, and integrations that support seven critical insurance lines while ensuring high performance, security, and compliance with industry regulations.

• Develop and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and Express.js framework
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints for frontend and external integrations
• Build services architecture following best practices for distributed systems
• Develop secure authentication and authorization systems using OAuth 2.0 and JWT
• Create integration APIs for Microsoft Entra ID SSO and external partner systems
• Implement business logic for workflows, claims processing, and policy management
• Write comprehensive unit tests and integration tests ensuring 90%+ code coverage
• Follow security best practices including data encryption, PII masking, and audit logging
• Collaborate with frontend developers to design efficient API contracts and data models
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality standards

• Experience with Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with Express.js, Fastify, or similar Node.js frameworks
• Proficient in RESTful API design and development with proper HTTP status codes and error handling
• Experience with PostgreSQL including complex queries
• Knowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML) and security best practices
• Proficient with Git version control and collaborative development workflows
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, or similar)
• Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems concepts
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Communication and teamwork skills

• Familiarity with GraphQL and Apollo Server
• Experience with serverless architecture (AWS Lambda, Serverless Framework)
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Experience with legacy system integration and data migration
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and project management tools
• Experience with multi-tenant application architecture
• Familiarity with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) for migration projects
