Global Product Specialist – Offshore Substation and Subsea Transformers

Overview

Global Product Specialist – Offshore Substation and Subsea Transformers (m/f/d) at Hitachi Energy. The Global Product Specialist (GPS) will work directly with the Global Product Manager (GPM) for Industrial & Specialty (I&S) Transformers and collaborate with our worldwide network of R&D centers, hubs and local business teams to capture and translate customer requirements into improvements of existing solutions and set the directions for new product developments. This role offers an opportunity for transformer engineering and R&D experts to apply their knowledge to help customers with demanding applications and participate in joint development of new solutions for the changing electrical grid. The work will involve technical meetings, international standards development, and contributing to industry knowledge on power transformer technology.

• Analyze market situation by following and understanding international standards, market and customer requirements, and their impact on the portfolio.
• Conduct competitor analyses to identify technical product gaps and opportunities, evaluating the portfolio position for competitiveness.
• Manage the technical specifications of Industrial and Specialty Power Transformers and support the Global Product Manager in developing business cases for product development, transfer of technology, maintenance, and competitiveness with a focus on Offshore Substation and Subsea Transformers.
• Collect and share market technical data to validate product performance and support new product development by translating market requirements into inputs for the product roadmap.
• Prepare and present technical communication materials to support product launches and enhance market positioning.
• Keep engineering, operations, sales and channels informed on topics related to Industrial and Specialty transformers including market, competition, quality, configurations and trends.
• Provide support to data quality improvement, sales, participate in customer meetings and attend trade shows and conferences to better identify customer values, pain points and needs.
• Ensure training material for Industrial and Specialty transformers – with focus on Offshore Substation and Subsea Transformers – is available for internal and external use.

• MSc or BSc Engineering degree
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transformer engineering and/or research & development, including electrical design experience from working in a factory with production processes and cost structure understanding
• Technical knowledge of transformer portfolio; knowledge of offshore wind or O&G substation transformers or subsea transformers is a plus
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Fluent English; experience with writing technical papers and/or reports
