Responsibilities The Global Public Policy team’s work spans a broad and diverse range of functions, including government affairs and relations, policy and product expertise, risk and crisis management, stakeholder engagement, coalition-building, and philanthropy. We are looking for a talented, driven and experienced government relations professional to support our growing TikTok Public Policy team in Brazil. The Public Policy Manager, Brazil will build and grow relationships with strategic policymakers and work collaboratively with different internal teams, such as legal and communications, to help guide development of products, services and policies. This role will advocate, both internally and externally, for policy positions that benefit and protect the TikTok user community, and identify, monitor and analyze relevant policy trends, legislative proposals, and issues of importance to the company. What you will do: Represent TikTok to elected officials, government agencies, ministries, as well as civil society entities and academic leaders engaged in policy-making issues of importance to TikTok and the people who use the service; Bring significant subject matter expertise in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the team, taking ownership of relevant regulatory analysis and external engagements, while also building the company's internal AI policy strategy vis-à-vis the Brazilian reality; Proactively identify emerging and significant policy issues, alert relevant internal teams and address such issues, helping to fashion the best solutions to the challenges caused by tech development itself; Represent TikTok at tech industry gatherings, trade associations and coalition meetings; Assist the Head of Brazil Public Policy to build business and engagement strategy and advise the company on emerging public policy matters to ensure the success of the team's goals in Brazil; Monitor political and social events in Brazil, and work with cross-functional teams to leverage opportunities or mitigate risks to the business; Work closely with Trust & Safety, Communications, Legal, and Product teams on the development and integration of key public policy projects; Take the lead on policy issues requiring external engagement, solving problems, and escalating to internal colleagues as needed; Maintain and develop a strong network of third-party public interest groups, industry associations and academics engaged in technology policy issues; Actively inform the cross-functional product and corporate teams on policy and regulatory developments in Brazil that could present risks with implications to the company and its products. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Extensive professional experience with government, politics and technology policy or related civil society experience with knowledge across all such disciplines; Outstanding judgment, persuasive and lobbying skills, creativity, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and often uncertain environment; Understanding of laws and regulations under which people who use TikTok in Brazil are subject to is a must; Deep experience working across multiple functions, influencing, and collaborating with others to successfully implement programs and initiatives; history of successful cross-functional team and leadership collaboration; Strong research and analysis abilities: the individual will need to take complex situations and effectively communicate their implications for the company, as well as defend priorities for the public policy function; Strong teamwork and communication skills: the individual will need to work with other departments including, but not limited to policy/legal/PR staff to assess need, alignment and path for collaboration; Excellent Portuguese and English language fluency, spoken and written. Preferred Qualifications Extensive government relations experience in major multinational corporations or international organizations; Discipline and self-drive: the successful candidate will eventually need to work remotely from his/her immediate supervisor. The successful candidate will also potentially travel domestically and/or internationally. He/she needs a strong sense of responsibility and self-drive; Proven track record managing projects; Experience in a tech company, especially a user driven content platform is a plus; Existing network in the technology sector in Brazil.
