We are a professional services firm providing services in software engineering and the cloud. We do Technical consulting, Programming & Quality Assurance, DevOps, Applications, UX, Product management, and Project management.
Advanced to fluent proficiency in English is a must for our positions since it is the language we communicate at the company.
Product Owners at Metal Toad connect and translate between client business needs and the technical tasks required to achieve those goals. You speak business values and are fluent in user stories. You are passionate about creating the best products possible for your customers.
**Activities**
- ** Product goals. **Developing, documenting, and communicating the client-supported Product Goals in Jira, Slack, and in each and every meeting. **This is the Product Owner's most important job.**:
- **Create a value prioritized backlog. **Creating Product Backlog Issues according to Metal Toad standards, including:
- User story
- Clear acceptance criteria
- Accurate Story Point estimates
- Figma designs (where appropriate)
- **Refine Issues.** Validate clarity of stories and the Story Point estimate on every Issue.
- **Organize the backlog.** In Jira, all Issues should be associated with project versions, which have start and end dates.
- **An issue for everything.** No features or required project activities should remain without an Issue with an estimate.
- **Assignment & Prioritization. **Ordering and assigning Issues according to priority and best skill match of available resources on a daily basis. _Any developer working on a suboptimal Issue means the Product Owner missed something._
- **Risk Identification. **Identifying any risks associated with the Product, especially items that may have an impact on user adoption and/or critical business-related deadlines.
- **Ensuring Quality.** Working with Quality Assurance and personally ensuring that all deliverables meet a quality standard that will be acceptable to the customer._ Any bugs discovered by the customer mean the Product Owner missed something._
- **Product leadership.** Calling for and leading any Sprint pushes that require additional time, special Subject Matter Expert (SME) involvement, or anything else to achieve the Product Goals.

- Proven ability to build relationships with a diverse set of people: including senior-level executives, R&D, product management, legal, finance, sales, and marketing experts.
- Can clearly and concisely synthesize/communicate complex requirements, and/or organizational problems and propose solutions while working through complicated, matrixed decision paths.
- Have a strong technical understanding to collaborate with Software Engineers on systems integrations, while bringing in your product mindset and customer obsession to validate Engineering decisions.
- Professional use of technology backlog processes and backlog tools, like Jira.
- Ability to confidently lead a group in whiteboarding, conceptualizing, and prioritization exercises.
- Ability to lead cross-functional business and technical teams to provide timely issue resolution.
