**About the role**:
The Design Team at Andela is in high growth mode. We are seeking a Design System Designer to join our outstanding team to help us build the elements we need to scale and automate our design process.
Reporting to the Design Operations Manager, this new role will focus on rebuilding our Design System from the scratch. For this role, we need someone who can create all the components and documentation to automate our process and to ensure a delightful and consistent user experience across all our products and projects.
You will be responsible for understanding the needs of the system and for creating its foundational patterns, UI components, tools, and documentation to empower Andela's strategic design vision. You will collaborate with designers, creatives, and engineers across all of our product surfaces.
**Responsibilities**:
- Create a unified, cohesive set of UX guidelines for all of Andela's mobile & web product.
- Produce the documentation that will guide all the teams using our design system.
- Work with the rest of the product team and developers to provide assistance on why and how it should be implemented.
- Be an ambassador of design. Effectively articulate decisions to stakeholders in product design, brand design, engineering, and product.
- Work pragmatically to meet deadlines while leaving room for future iteration.
**Requirements**:
- 5+ years of experience in product design, working directly with design systems.
- Knowledge of technical constraints and guidelines for mobile and web platforms.
- Strong visual and interaction design fundamentals.
- Deep understanding of usability and accessibility principles.
- Advanced knowledge of Figma's design tool.
- Familiarity with workflow tools such as Miro and project management tools such as Jira.
- Great communication at every level with the ability to flex between executives and team members.
- Enjoy working on a cross-disciplinary team of designers, engineers, product managers, and project managers.
- Good understanding of front-end design.
