Protection Specialist

1. Identification

2. Role Summary
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation or similar, with at least 5 years of experience with maintenance of protection systems. Experience with IEDs parameterization and protection tests sets.
Carry out planning and execution of the preventive maintenance plan in CGN asset protection systems, corrective maintenance, and configuration of IED parameters. Carry out tests of the configured protection functions using the test case. Interpret single-line diagrams, functional diagrams, network architecture, etc. Prepare technical reports of the activities developed. Conduct field data surveys. Availability to travel is required. Knowledge in the use of Protection Test Sets such as Conprove, Omicron and Double. Knowledge of ABB, SEL, Alstom/GE Protection Relays. Plus in the Curriculum: knowledge of protection relays from other manufacturers (Siemens, Schneider). IEC 61850 communication protocol. Availability to travel.

4. Main Responsibilities
- Support the field teams in terms of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenances.
- KPI implementation and analysis.
- Responsible for elaborating technical requirements for protection of electric power systems.
- Support the Root Cause Analysis for major and minor components incidents.
- Plan and support the execution of major corrective maintenances.
- Plan and support the execution of commissioning activities in Protection Systems.
- Elaborate technical documentation for the O&M technicians, such as manuals and procedures.
- Support back-office on estimating spare parts.
- Carry out oscillography analysis of protection systems events.
- Support post-operation activities and interfaces with ONS in topics related to protection of electric power systems.
- Planning corrective actions based on results from predictive maintenances.
- Support the technical analysis of greenfield projects in terms of implementation of protection systems.
- Comply with all the policies, standards and procedures of CGNBE, including those related to Compliance, Anti-Bribery, quality, environment and health and safety at work applicable to its activity.
5. Position Requirements:
- Electrical Engineering Degree.
- Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge.
- 5 Years’ experience working in power systems protection.
- Fluent English skills (speaking, writing, and reading).
- Experience in ABB, SEL, Alstom/GE protection systems and the technical norm IEC 61850. Differential: knowledge of protection relays from other manufacturers (Siemens, Schneider)
- Additional skills: leadership, planning, respect to SHEQ policy.
