General Description:

The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for driving the company’s sustainability strategy with a strong focus on Scope 3 emissions. This role will identify and mitigate sustainability risks, embed sustainable practices into procurement and supply chain operations, manage sustainability data and reporting, and communicate progress transparently to internal and external stakeholders. The role will report to the Head of Procurement & Sustainability Excellence.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the company’s sustainability strategy with emphasis on Scope 3 emissions reduction, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and values.
  • Manage sustainability budgets, including projects and future financial projections through 2027.
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize sustainability risks and opportunities across the value chain; maintain and update climate risk mapping (e.g., Power BI dashboards based on BSI data).
  • Integrate climate-related risks into enterprise risk management (ERM) systems and mitigation plans, and ensure effective tracking and follow-up.
  • Establish and maintain accurate Scope 3 data tables, target-setting frameworks, and emissions footprint repositories.
  • Track and report supplier sustainability data to meet internal needs and external obligations (e.g., sustainability reports, Hong Kong Stock Exchange requirements).
  • Collaborate with sourcing managers (primarily direct, with some indirect) to embed Scope 3 reduction into category strategies, sourcing decisions, and implementation plans.
  • Develop and implement sustainable procurement policies, including ESG sourcing guidance, supplier evaluation criteria, and performance measurement.
  • Lead supplier engagement initiatives, including climate questionnaires, maturity assessments, outreach, and training sessions, to improve supplier performance on sustainability.
  • Support supplier development programs, including diversity, audits, partnerships, and capability-building initiatives.
  • Educate suppliers and third-party vendors on climate awareness and emissions reduction expectations.
  • Research and evaluate new sustainability technologies and trends (e.g., AI resource use, green chemistry, sustainable construction, and packaging) for business impact and adoption potential.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to procurement leadership and other stakeholders (e.g., PLT updates, ESG sourcing guidance, sustainability reports).
  • Design and deliver internal sustainability education and awareness programs, including recorded webinars and training for procurement teams.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving regulations, industry best practices, and responsible procurement due diligence requirements.
  • Build business cases for sustainability initiatives, drive organizational change, and act as a trusted advisor on sustainable business practices.
Minimum Requirements – Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sustainability management, with proven expertise in Scope 3 emissions.
Other Experience:
  • Strong understanding of sustainability and ESG principles, with practical application in procurement and supply chain.
  • Experience developing and implementing supplier engagement and responsible procurement programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to build compelling business cases.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive change without direct authority.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience preparing clear reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a related regulated sector is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration across teams.

Salary Range: $108,600.00 - $148,600.00 annually

Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
