My client, a consultancy based in the USA are looking for a Back End focused Engineer specialising in Node.js to join their team. This will be a long-term contract with an immediate start.


Responsibilities:


  • Node.js Development: Lead the design and implementation of server-side logic using Node.js, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • API Development: Design and build robust and well-documented RESTful APIs to enable seamless communication between the front-end and back-end systems.
  • Database Management: Develop and optimize database schemas and queries for smooth data retrieval and storage. Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases is preferred.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks in the backend infrastructure to deliver a highly responsive and efficient application.
  • Security and Authentication: Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms to protect sensitive data and ensure overall security.
  • Code Quality and Testing: Write clean, modular, and testable code. Develop and execute unit tests to validate functionality.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Tackle complex technical challenges with innovative solutions, ensuring the long-term success and scalability of our backend systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Version Control and Deployment: Utilize version control systems, such as Git, to manage codebase changes and collaborate with DevOps teams for smooth deployments.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve potential issues, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.


Requirements:


  • Extensive Node.js Experience: Proven track record of designing and developing backend applications using Node.js, with a deep understanding of its asynchronous nature and event-driven architecture.
  • Backend Development: Strong background in server-side development, including hands-on experience with frameworks and libraries commonly used in the Node.js ecosystem.
  • Database Expertise: Proficiency in working with databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling. Experience with databases like MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or others is valuable.
  • RESTful API Design: In-depth knowledge of designing and implementing RESTful APIs that follow best practices for consistency, scalability, and versioning.
  • Performance Optimization: Experience in profiling and optimizing Node.js applications for improved performance and reduced response times.
  • Security Awareness: Familiarity with security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and protection against common security vulnerabilities.
  • Testing and Automation: Strong understanding of testing methodologies and experience with testing frameworks such as Mocha, Chai, or Jest.
  • DevOps Familiarity: Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Problem-solving Mindset: Analytical thinker with a passion for solving complex technical challenges and the ability to think critically and creatively.
