Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Remote First, Java/Kotlin) — remote contractor role at Kuali, Inc. We are seeking two Senior Full Stack Java Engineers to join our team as remote contractors, based in Brazil or across Latin America, supporting a US engineering team delivering enterprise software and excellent customer experiences.

We are a remote-first, results-driven team that values impact over hours. We operate with a four-day work week policy (Monday–Thursday) and measure success by the results you deliver and the impact you create.

Responsibilities
  • Own, maintain, and evolve an important area of our software systems written in Java using the Spring framework.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, designers, and leaders as part of a world-class software engineering team.
  • Contribute to both greenfield initiatives and refactoring projects; work across front-end and back-end as needed.
About You
  • 3+ years of experience building software or web applications with object-oriented or functional programming languages.
  • Willing to work on web applications on both the front-end and back-end.
  • Familiar with agile methodologies; collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers; use real-time feedback to solve problems iteratively.
  • Interest in using tests to verify functionality; comfortable taking ownership without relying solely on testers.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills; fluent in English (company official language).
  • Proficient in Java and Spring (including legacy XML config & JSP); MySQL; AWS.
