Principal Software Leader

This role offers the opportunity to drive engineering strategy, shape technical direction, and directly influence product and company trajectory.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy deep technical ownership, and be able to navigate ambiguity while aligning cross-team stakeholders.

You will work closely with the executive team to scale technology, grow the team, and define the next chapter of our platform.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead critical systems architecture, design, and implementation across multiple teams, driving high-impact solutions.
  • Drive technical strategy, set engineering standards for scalability, performance, security, and reliability, and collaborate with product, design, and business teams.
  • Recognize how software and systems engineering drive revenue and reduce costs, prioritizing initiatives based on business impact.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design sessions, and coaching.
  • Dive deep into code, especially in high-stakes systems, and evaluate emerging technologies for meaningful leverage.
  • Braintstorm with the executive team on new initiatives from a software perspective.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2+ years in a principal role.
  • Proven ability to drive complex technical projects from 0 to production.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, data platforms, backend APIs, cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong architectural skills and a pragmatic approach to design tradeoffs.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and aligning cross-team stakeholders.
  • Empathetic leadership and ability to build trust across teams.
  • Proficiency in Python, AWS Lambda, MongoDB, ML/AI, and fluency in core engineering principles.
  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented with a proven track record navigating fast-paced environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Reduced errors and downtime to near 0 in production.
  • Led redesign and scaling effort of core lead distribution system, improving performance and reliability.
  • Shipped key infrastructure and product features unlocking growth and operational efficiency amongst sales and marketing teams.
  • Established engineering standards across testing, deployment, and code quality.
  • Mentored engineers, elevating overall technical maturity of the team.
  • Played critical role in hiring and onboarding new technical talent.
  • Introduced tools, workflows, and frameworks making development faster and more predictable.
  • Built strong partnerships with the executive team and other leaders across the company, influencing company strategy through a technical lens.
