Senior Software Engineer (Remote Contractor, Brazil)

We’re looking for Senior Full Stack Engineers to join our team as remote contractors. We’re seeking experienced engineers based in Brazil or across Latin America who want to join a US engineering team building our next generation of our enterprise software platform for delivering amazing customer experiences to our clients.

In this role, you will work with many other engineers owning, architecting, and building an extremely valuable SaaS platform for the higher education industry. You will collaborate with other engineers, product managers, designers, and leaders as part of our software engineering team.

We’re a remote-first, results-driven team that values impact over hours. Fridays are kept flexible to wrap up anything outstanding, and success in this role is measured by the results you deliver and the impact you create—not by time spent online.

About You

We’re looking for curious, enthusiastic, empathetic Senior Software Engineers who solve problems, execute on ideas, advocate for the customer, and contribute to a team culture built on trust and mutual respect. You’ll have a significant impact on what we do and how we do it.

We build and support systems using both Java and Node.js/React. We value versatile developers who can learn new tools and adapt to greenfield and refactoring projects. We believe the best results come from diverse teams with a broad range of ideas and perspectives.

You will
  • Have 3+ years of experience building software or web applications with object-oriented or functional programming languages
  • Be willing to work on web applications on both the front- and back-end
  • Understand how to build solutions with an agile approach and collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers
  • Be interested in using tests to verify proper functionality
  • Do not rely solely on testers to ensure code quality
Required Skills
  • Fluent in English (English is our company’s official language)
  • Full Stack TypeScript/JavaScript (React, NodeJS, etc)
  • Relational Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc)
  • AWS
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
Preferred / Additional Experience
  • Elasticsearch, MongoDB, and other NoSQL databases
  • Logging technologies
  • Elixir (experience with Elixir is a plus, though you can learn Elixir on the job)
  • Experience owning and maintaining complex systems
