Associate Counsel, Safety

**About the Role**:
The safety & insurance litigation team oversees and manages litigation and claims arising out of Uber's insurance policies. In doing so, the team works hand in hand with our insurance partners and outside counsel to drive solutions and innovate. This innovative team also works across Uber's business teams, from operations to safety, to evaluate and manage risk. Insurance for drivers and riders is a critical part of our business, and we are constantly innovating in this area.
The Safety & Insurance Legal Team is searching for an Insurance Litigation Associate Counsel to be responsible for tort litigation related to our auto liability, general liability and personal accident insurance policies in Brazil. Additionally, in this role, you will work in concert with other legal colleagues as a trusted advisor in risk management for region specific teams focused on Insurance Business, Safety Operations, Platform Operations, Community Operations, Policy and Communications.
**What You'll Do**:
- Manage a portfolio of claims and litigation in Brazil.
- Provide guidance to Outside Counsel on case strategy and assist in all phases of the civil litigation lifecycle, including, but not limited to defense, evidentiary phase and appellation.
- Review, categorize, organize, track and update information and legal documents within our matter management system.
- Analyze, issue spot and escalate inquiries.
- Perform research, fact investigation and preservation functions.
- Prioritize and manage a large volume of cases and projects.
- Perform and analyze complex data analytics.
- Design, build and deliver engaging presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Respond directly to requests from outside counsel, insurers and other stakeholders.
**Basic Qualifications**:
- Minimum of three (3) years of legal experience in private practice and/or in-house
- Experience on civil liability litigation
- Experience with insurance law and/or personal injury litigation
- Proficiency in Portuguese and English, fluency in Spanish a plus
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivation and the ability to work both on a team and independently
- Flexibility and willingness to help out wherever needed
