Responsibilities

Perform preliminary credit analysis to support ratings, research, analytical outreach, and presentations, following mentorship provided by the team lead. Examples of analytical work include:

• Quantitative assessment of financial documents, asset performance, and economic/market data, qualitative assessments of business strategy, financial policy, governance, and other factors, as well as analysis of bond indentures and other legal documents.
• Reading legal documents and contracts to understand issuance terms, structures, covenants, and guarantees.
• Preparing financial spreadsheets and charts, analyzing data, building and updating financial models and analytical tools, and writing analytical commentary in accordance with Moody’s methodologies.
• Identifying trends in data and using analytical ability, applying judgment to form well-supported credit conclusions.
• Develop a solid understanding of Moody’s Local methodologies in order to apply them to credit analysis.
• Demonstrate the ability to understand and identify key factors that affect credit ratings under the supervision and mentorship of lead analysts.
• Support credit monitoring/surveillance of issuers by preparing data for surveillance, periodically updating preliminary components of analysis, and initiating/deepening credit reviews when necessary.
• Perform routine administrative and other ad hoc credit-related tasks as advised by direct supervisor.
• Work as a team with other Associates and Analysts under the supervision of the direct manager.
• Participate in external meetings with issuers, financial advisors, and other intermediaries.

About The Team

You will provide credit analysis of the rating process on a portfolio of issuers within Corporate Finance Group. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to Moody’s Local by supporting the credit analysis function performed by Lead Analysts.

Cross-training in supporting varying asset classes, rating teams, and methodologies is part of career progression. Background in corporate finance, accounting, and financial analysis is a plus. You will be encouraged to work effectively in a collaborative, changing team environment, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education

• Minimum undergraduate/ first level degree in economics, accounting, engineering, business administration, statistics, actuarial science or similar (e.g. bachelor’s degree, or equivalent qualifications).

Skills And Competencies

• Preferably 1-2 years of validated experience (including internship).
• Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Proven English, spoken, and written communication.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Python programming and Visual Basic for Applications knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
