MINIMUM REQUIREMENT FOR THE POSITION: Grade 12 or NTC 3 Waste Water Practice or Appropriate

  • Chemical Engineering Degree or (NQF 4) qualification with 5 years’ experience;
  • One (1) year or more relevant experience;
  • Chemical Engineering / Process Controller Classification (III); and
  • A valid driver’s license B/EB (Code 08) will be an added advantage.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor water treatment process;
  • Operate and control electronic motors, pumps, and valves to regulate the flow of raw water into the treatment plant;
  • Conduct routine water analysis for quality control;
  • Regulate routine dosing process by following instructions in respect of non-routine dosing, routine samples, and analyses of water at all phases from raw water to final treated product for pH levels, free chlorine, turbidity, and impurities (EMM by-laws);
  • Monitor pumps operation to reservoirs to ensure starting and stopping as per required schedules;
  • Assist with cleaning of sieves and other plant-related maintenance;
  • Monitor water loss to ensure that there is no excess flow into the plant that would overload the system;
  • Assist with draining of sludge dams and routine tests;
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards in the workplace.
