Overview

The Electrical Integration Engineering team delivers design solutions for freight equipment wiring assemblies, manages the packaging of complex wiring arrangements, and develops the customer maintenance electrical schematics. Operating on a global scale, the team develops cutting-edge technology to support the advancement of freight locomotive systems, ensuring innovation and high performance in every project.

Responsibilities

• Engineering design of electrical systems for locomotives, including point-to-point wiring, schematics, and packaging.
• Work on latest technology and global projects with exposure to senior technologists & leaders.
• Demonstrate strong technical skills to meet business-critical needs by following robust Wabtec Business & Engineering processes.
• Lead technical design reviews following the Business Tollgate Design Review process and the area guides.
• Ownership of stated technical / safety / cost / reliability / performance requirements for schematic and wire lists, plus inputs to mechanical routing, 3D wiring and packaging design.
• Interactions with engineering sub-system teams; systems engineering; drafting team and supply chain operations across global sites.
• Review and approve designs developed by Wabtec designers and detailed drawings completed by drafting.
• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Understanding and working experience on wiring harness and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of tools such as Zuken E3, Wilmor, Oracle, Siemens NX, MS Office Suite.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing BOM.
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

What will your typical day look like?

• Track and execute, with general guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define, and support assigned components, assemblies, or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements.
• Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. Use your experience to solve problems, develop objectives for self and others, and influence short-term and some long-term goals.
• Generate new ideas to improve everyday processes and act on them.
• Support manufacturing and correlated areas by researching issues, interacting with the shop floor, and ensuring timely resolution communication.
• Develop concept design, detailed design, and design analysis for locomotive wiring schematics, point-to-point information, wire lists and components; include mechanical routing and packaging of power cabling, control and network wiring, conduits and electrical components on locomotive projects.
• Own technical/safety/cost/reliability/performance requirements for schematics and wire lists; contribute to mechanical routing, 3D wiring and packaging design.
• Collaborate with engineering sub-system teams; systems engineering; drafting; and supply chain operations across global sites.
• Review and approve designs and drawings produced by others.
• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
