Senior Materials Handling - on-site at Microsoft Overview As a Microsoft Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT), you will perform cycle audits, execute incoming/outgoing deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors, and document inbound and outbound deliveries. Responsibilities Customer Service: Maintain a strong focus to optimize resources and improve quality. Articulate the impact of work performed within the Data Center to technicians. Seek information about underlying customer needs and deliver solutions that maximize ROI. Manage issues with internal and external stakeholders as they arise. Data Bearing Device (DBD) Destruction: Ensure processes are followed for timely destruction. Manage the destruction/shredding schedule in partnership with senior leadership. Perform DBD destruction as needed. Handle escalations and assist with security investigations. Coordinate with and oversee third-party vendors who perform DBD destruction as necessary. Inbound and Outbound Logistics: Provide technical support and guidance to a team responsible for preparing and executing deliveries and documenting inbound/outbound packages. Direct the flow of packages from preparation to shipment. Schedule inbound/outbound logistics of internal and external services. Communicate with customers regarding scheduling and coordinate with third-party warehouses, OEM vendors, and suppliers as necessary. Inventory Management: Maintain inventory accuracy, prioritize ticket queues, resolve escalations, and clear blocking issues to enable IAM activities. Operational Excellence: Act as subject matter expert, model compliance to less experienced teammates, contribute to workstreams, and seek opportunities to simplify and automate processes. Procurement: Create execution plans, identify and resolve delivery roadblocks, learn supplier elements, perform transactional work (POs and contracts), gather PO data, and assist senior leadership with escalated procurement issues. Safety Practices: Conduct daily safety topic huddles, coordinate escalated task risks, train employees on safe rack movement, ensure compliance with heavy-lifting equipment requirements, and lead by example in safety standards. Tactical Shift Management: Prioritize and assign ticketed work, resolve escalations, enable on-site and remote support activities, and escalate as needed during high-volume periods. Warranty Process Management: Act as subject matter expert on RMA processes, ensure failed vendor hardware is processed, and adhere to SLAs related to RMAs. Other: Embody Microsoft culture and values. Qualifications Required/minimum qualifications High School Diploma AND 2+ years of experience in warehouse/supply chain in an IT environment, logistics, supply chain, inventory management, retail, or related field, or equivalent experience. Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including non-standard business hours that may include evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays. Travel up to 25% as part of the role. Background Check Requirements Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, the Microsoft Cloud Background Check: required upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Additional or Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of experience in warehouse/supply chain in an IT environment or related field, including operating heavy-load movement equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts).
