Packaging Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:Responsible to develop, validate and implement packaging concepts for finished goods based on customer requirements and plant guidelines. Additionally, recognizes opportunities on raw material supplier’s packaging to optimize costs and handling. Packaging engineer identifies, develops, leads, implements, and follows up improvement and/or cost savings/avoidance projects in logistics.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Validate BOM’s to ensure all packaging items are marked properly for cost and production relevancy to avoid PPV’s and/or inventory deviationsResponsible to design, validate and implement packaging concepts for finished goods based on customer requirements, International Standards, and plant guidelinesRecognizes opportunities on raw material supplier’s packaging to optimize costs and handlingMain contact to cross functional teams, customer, and suppliers, to support topics related to design and quality of the expendable/returnable packagingSupport on the analysis and monitoring of the packaging budget and forecast (Business Plan, Current Forecast, monthly cost reports)Identifies, develops, leads, implements, and follow up improvement and/or cost savings/avoidance projects in logistics and cost/pieceUsage of problem-solving tools to recommend and execute solutions to overcome issues to meet customer requirementsLoop Calculations for returnable containers from different customersCreate/Execute Engineering Changes Orders for packaging related updates/changesSupport Operations areas (Production, Manufacturing and Quality) for Customer Packaging related surveys, quality / design issues, alternate packaging options, etc.

EDUCATION:

Bachelore Degree on engineering or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

General packaging processes knowledge – AdvancedLoop Calculation for Automotive CustomersASTM/AIAG/ISTA test standards requirementsAutomotive customer portals packaging information requirements

KNOWLEDGE:

Usage of software: NX preferred Solid works/Auto cad acceptableBudget & forecast development and tracking knowledge/skills for returnable containersMicrosoft officeLearning and adaptability skillsAnalytic skillsNegotiation SkillsCommunication skills, English 80%Customer service orientated
