VMware Engineer (Remote – EST Hours) Schedule: 40h/week • On-call rotation required Contract: Contractor About the Role Our client is looking for an experienced VMware Engineer to join our infrastructure team, supporting large-scale virtualized environments and ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability across global data centers. The ideal professional has strong hands-on experience with v SAN , VMware cluster management, upgrades, and networking at the hypervisor level. Key Responsibilities Virtualization & Infrastructure Management Administer and support VMware ESXi and v Center environments (versions 7 and 8; migration to 9 planned). Manage VMware clusters, VMware Distributed Switches (VDS), and ESXi host configurations. Perform v Center and ESXi upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management. Ensure optimal configuration, performance, and availability of virtual infrastructure. v SAN (Mandatory) Manage and support VMware v SAN environments (minimum 2 years of hands-on experience). Monitor v SAN health, performance, and storage capacity. Troubleshoot v SAN-related storage, performance, and node issues. Networking & System Administration Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, trunks, port groups, and VM networking issues. Understand network configuration at the hypervisor level and how to troubleshoot VM connectivity. Integrate and manage Active Directory within v Center environments. Required Skills & Experience Strong experience with VMware v SAN (must-have). 5+ years of experience administering VMware environments (versions 7 and 8). Hands-on expertise in: VMware Cluster & VDS Management v SAN configuration and maintenance ESXi host upgrades and patching v Center lifecycle management Understanding of VLANs, trunks, and virtual networking. Basic knowledge of Active Directory integration in v Center. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in complex virtualized environments. Nice to Have Experience supporting large enterprise VMware environments. Familiarity with automation or scripting tools (Power CLI, Python). Knowledge of backup/restore strategies in virtual infrastructures. Work Environment Remote role aligned to EST business hours (8:30 AM–5:30 PM) . Includes on-call rotation for critical support needs.
