This is a unique opportunity to join a brand known as one of the leaders in open-source and cloud native.

This role involves close partnership with the Product Management, Partnerships, Sales, and Marketing teams to communicate key product news and manage the perception of Canonical and its products, including Ubuntu.

The Communications Manager will coordinate internal and external resources, working with in-house teams and agencies depending on the geography, to promote press releases, product updates, support live events, and assist the Director of Communications with corporate news and the company's public image.

As a Communications Manager, you will:

  • Prepare and execute communication plans for product announcements and new partnerships.
  • Monitor perception and sentiment of Canonical and its products, creating campaigns to enhance positive perception.
  • Manage media relationships directly and through third-party agencies.
  • Create and present reports on communication activities and track PR spend.
  • Coordinate communications for live and virtual events.
  • Work with Social Media and Marketing teams on unified campaigns.
  • Support Product and Web teams in creating materials for news and announcements.
  • Assist the Director of Communications with corporate communication initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience managing technology communications, either agency or in-house.
  • Existing media relations in their geographic area.
  • A proven track record of successful communications campaigns in the technology sector.
  • Experience with cloud, SaaS, or open source technology is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual presentation skills in English.
  • Additional language skills and experience in multinational communications are a plus.
  • A growth mindset, enthusiasm for challenges, and a strong work ethic.
  • Objectivity and openness to others' views, with a positive team spirit.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • A history of delivering strong results and innovation in technology or SaaS.
