***Job Description**:As a member of the Simulation team, you will be a key contributor to product development activities for our team in Gatineau, Canada. The simulation team is responsible for building simulators that mimic the various real-life systems used in public safety for the purpose of creating true-to-life training simulations **.**
We are seeking smart, self-motivated, enthusiastic software engineers with interest in DevOps to help us design and deliver our next-generation, cloud-based solution. The right individual will be motivated and will have a passion for understanding how things really work, for producing quality software and for enabling innovation. Your efforts will help to shape the engineering culture and best practices across Motorola Solutions' Software Enterprise organization.
As a lead Software Engineer in this role, you must be adept at learning new technologies quickly.
***Basic Requirements**:**Responsibilities will include**:
- **Design and implement core services used by our Public Safety cloud solutions**
- **Define and meet scalability, availability, security, and performance goals**
- **Rapidly build and evolve major features in collaboration with product management**
- **Research and experiment with key technologies, architectures, and standards**
- **Attend daily scrum meetings, collaborate with your peers, prioritize features, and work to deliver value to your customers**
- **Assist with supporting Production systems (includes troubleshooting issues and aiming to resolution)**
- **Understand complex technical details and build test methodologies for them**

**Qualifications**:
**Basic Requirements**
- **5+ years of system specialists, and software development experience**
- **Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Telecommunications, or Electronics.**
- **Excellent knowledge of backend development in Java and **Spring Boot**
- **Excellent knowledge of frontend development in Angular and Javascript**
- **Knowledge of one of the following: Docker, Terraform and Kubernetes**
- **Knowledge of Git and Git Workflows**
- **Understanding of Agile Scrum Experience and working in a CI/CD environment (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery)**
- **Have expertise in at least one of the following: REST API design & development, **asynchronous and reactive programming, **performance analysis and capacity planning, SQL and NoSQL database design and development, test-driven development (TDD)**
- **Software Architecture and Development: understanding of object-oriented coding, design patterns and SOLID principles.**
- **Able to troubleshoot and debug issues on basic networking, knowledge of Wireshark an asset**
- **Team player and leader interested in Agile team building**
- **Experience working with large distributed agile teams**
- **Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn**
- **Advanced level of English (both written and oral)**
**Nice-to-have requirements**:
- **Background on services and cloud computing (Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services)**
- **Proficient in scripting (Python)**
- **Good hands-on knowledge of Configuration Management and Deployment tools like: Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Packer, Terraform etc.**
- **Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always up, always-available service environment.**
- **Familiarity with tools for systems management, operational support, and performance monitoring.**
