We operate a founder-led, profitable, and growing company with a remote-first culture, meeting in person a few times a year in interesting locations. We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team working closely with cloud giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google to optimize Ubuntu for their infrastructure. Your team builds, tests, and publishes Ubuntu images used globally, ensuring performance, security, and a consistent user experience across clouds. Key responsibilitiesBuild and lead a team of engineers across multiple time zones Mentor and develop team members' skills and careers Contribute technically through code reviews and architecture Manage stakeholder expectations and collaborate with other teams Implement modern, agile development practices Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture Automate image delivery, testing, and publishing pipelines Engage with internal teams, open source communities, and partners Travel up to 15% for internal and external events QualificationsPassion for mentoring and developing engineers Strong software development background, especially in Python and Golang Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Excellent communication skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent What we offerDistributed work environment with in-person team sprints Annual learning and development budget of USD 2,000 Competitive compensation with annual reviews Benefits including leave, parental leave, wellness programs, and travel opportunities About CanonicalCanonical is a pioneer in open source, publishing Ubuntu and leading in AI, IoT, and cloud innovation.
