Tech Lead, Web Core Product & Chrome Extension - Salvador, Brazil

The mission of Speechify is to make sure that reading is never a barrier to learning.

Over 50 million people use Speechify’s text-to-speech products to turn PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio, helping users read faster, read more, and remember more. Our products include the iOS app, Android app, Mac app, Chrome extension, and Web app. Speechify has been recognized by Google as Chrome Extension of the Year and by Apple as App of the Day.

We are a 100% distributed company with no office, working globally. Our team includes frontend and backend engineers, AI researchers, and others from major tech companies and universities. This is a key role for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and cares about delivering great user experiences that delight users.

We are a flat organization where anyone can lead by demonstrating strong technical skills and consistently delivering results. Work ethic, clear communication, and a relentless drive to win are essential.

Our interview process involves several technical interviews and we aim to complete them within 1 week.

What You’ll Do
  • Actively ship production code to the web products
  • Work closely with your dedicated product team
  • Participate in product discussions to shape the product roadmap
  • Have the opportunity to work on new and exciting features that will impact millions of users
An Ideal Candidate Should Have
  • Experience: Built and shipped products that scaled to thousands or millions of users
  • Customer obsession: Passion for the field and desire to build high-quality products that serve customer needs
  • Speed: Ability to generate ideas quickly and decide what can ship now vs. what requires more time
  • Focus: Ability to engage or focus as a high-growth, remote team requires
  • Collaboration: Ability to inspire, collaborate with designers, marketers, and PMs
  • Tech Stack: Vanilla JS, ReactJS, Redux, Firebase, TypeScript
