Software Engineering Director

Overview

You will be part of Experian's Global Decisioning team, concentrating engineering, architecture and development of unified platform solutions, new product prototyping. We ask that you have hands-on technology and engineering background and execution in Java full stack, Agentic AI & cloud technology. Experience in Decisioning, workflow definition and execution. You will be reporting to a Vice President.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical initiatives at director level to build offshore presence for the Unified Platform initiative.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to India Decisioning Engineering teams and support India team members for ESS Decisioning.
• Set up and scale engineering teams across multiple geographies.
• Collaborate across global and regional engineering and product teams to deliver complex solutions.
• Ensure projects are delivered from start to finish, applying advanced algorithms and engineering methods where appropriate.
• Evaluate data, interpret results, and communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Manage technology budgets and vendor resourcing models as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering, Data Science, or Computer Science.
• 15+ years of experience in engineering, data science, software development, and architecture.
• Hands-on leadership experience and ability to build offshore and distributed teams.
• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and tools is mandatory.
• Proficient in Java full stack development (Java, Python, Spark, or C++ is a plus).
• Experience developing complex engineering solutions with advanced algorithms; ability to apply methods to practical problems.
• Familiarity with scripting languages and Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience with Agile software development, specifically SAFe.
• Strong analytical ability to evaluate, understand, and interpret data; effective written and verbal communication to technical audiences.
• Experience in technology financial budget management and vendor resourcing models.

Pluses

• Experience with risk-based authentication, digital identity recognition, and online/mobile fraud analytics in large financial organizations.
• Knowledge of natural language processing/text mining techniques and GenAI.

• Java full-stack development experience.
• Proficiency in programming languages (Java, Python, Go).
• Understanding of software development best practices and security.
• Code review and version control (Git).

DevOps Practices

• CI/CD pipelines
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Automated testing strategies
• Monitoring and logging tools

Security Knowledge

• Identity and access management (IAM)
• Fraud detection and prevention strategies
• Security best practices in cloud environments
• Compliance and regulatory knowledge (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS)

Cloud Services

• Proficiency in cloud service offerings (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions)
• Cloud infrastructure management and optimization
• Scalability and high availability considerations

Container Orchestration

• Kubernetes deployment and management
• Understanding of Helm charts
• Container networking and service discovery

Microservices Architecture

• Design and implement microservices
• API design and management
• Service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio)

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with partners and communicate to a variety of audiences
• Work effectively with cross-functional teams

Learning and Troubleshooting

• Willingness to stay updated on latest technologies and adapt to changing requirements
• Troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems; perform root cause analysis and resolution

Vendor Management

• Experience working with third-party vendors and tools; evaluation and selection of technology solutions
