Overview

Senior Engineering Manager (Bangkok based, relocation provided) at Agoda. This role requires leading large engineering teams, working with senior leadership up to the C-level, and shaping the technical roadmap for your area.

Responsibilities
  • Manage large engineering teams
  • Directly manage engineering managers and senior engineers
  • Provide technical input into new business ideas
  • Work with senior leadership up to C-level
  • Work and drive initiatives outside of your core team
  • Build and guide the technical roadmap for your area
  • Take ownership of major projects that are strategic to Agoda
  • Foster a love of engineering and a passion for building things elegantly and at scale; stay informed on industry directions and advocate for sound architectural decisions
  • Develop people: inspire others to achieve their potential and integrate A-players from outside into the business
What you'll Need to Succeed
  • Experience managing large engineering teams (>25 people)
  • Experience hiring and managing engineering managers
  • Experience developing future engineering managers from within the company
  • Experience rapidly growing a team
  • Experience communicating to C-level executives
  • At least 5 years of experience managing engineering teams; 10+ years of software engineering
  • Demonstrable experience as a system owner with operational responsibility
  • Ability to operate autonomously: make decisions, set KPIs, with strong ownership
  • Extremely proficient in at least one programming language (React, Javascript, Kotlin, Scala, Java, C#)
  • Knowledge of scale, microservices and clean architecture
  • Focus on velocity and quality with appropriate engineering metrics
  • Excellent people management and communication skills
  • Minimum a B.S. in Computer Science or quantitative field
Nice to Have
  • Experience with a range of backend programming languages
  • Experience in data engineering
  • Experience in a data-driven company with Big Data
  • Experience at a scale Internet company with many users and high transactions
  • Worked on global projects serving world markets with distributed data centers
  • Experience in Fintech / Financial Systems
