Data Architect, Professional Services

Overview

The Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking a skilled Data Architect to join our team at Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, you\'ll work closely with customers to design, implement, and manage AWS solutions that meet their technical requirements and business objectives. You\'ll be a key player in driving customer success through their cloud journey, providing technical expertise and best practices throughout the project lifecycle. Possessing a deep understanding of AWS products and services, you will architect complex, scalable, and secure solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer. You\'ll gather requirements, assess current infrastructure, and propose migration strategies to AWS. You will be responsible for leading the implementation process, ensuring adherence to best practices, optimizing performance, and managing risks throughout the project. These engagements focus on data and analytics solutions such as Data and Business intelligence, machine learning, and batch/real-time data processing.

The AWS Professional Services organization is a global team that helps customers realize their desired business outcomes when using the AWS Cloud. We work with customer teams and the AWS Partner Network (APN) to execute enterprise cloud computing initiatives. Our team provides assistance through offerings that help customers achieve outcomes related to enterprise cloud adoption, and we deliver focused guidance through global specialty practices covering a range of solutions, technologies, and industries.

Key job responsibilities

• Help the customer define and implement data architectures (Data Lake, Lake House, Data Mesh, etc.). Engagements include short on-site projects proving the use of AWS Data services to support new distributed computing solutions that often span private and public cloud services.
• Deliver on-site technical assessments with partners and customers, participate in pre-sales visits, understand customer requirements, and create packaged Data & Analytics service offerings.
• Engage with the customer’s business and technology stakeholders to create a compelling vision of a data-driven enterprise in their environment and create artifacts that promote code reuse.
• Collaborate with AWS field sales, pre-sales, training, and support teams to help partners and customers learn and use AWS services such as Athena, Glue, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, Amazon EMR, and Amazon Redshift.
• Travel to client locations and deliver professional services when needed, up to 50% of the time.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in cloud architecture and implementation
• 3+ years of database (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kinesis) experience
• 3+ years of experience delivering cloud projects or cloud-based solutions
• Able to communicate effectively in English, in technical and business settings
• Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of external or internal customer-facing, complex and large-scale project management experience
• Proficiency in a wide range of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudFormation)
• Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Terraform, Python)
• Expertise in performance optimization and cost management for cloud environments
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• AWS Professional level certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional) preferred
