Cloud Architect

Position: Associate Principal – Cloud Architecture (Azure PaaS Modernization) Location: Remote in Brazil Type: Full-Time / Contractor (depending on region) Language: Fluent English required. About the Role We are seeking an Associate Principal – Architecture with strong technical leadership and deep expertise in Azure PaaS application modernization. This role focuses on designing target‑state cloud architectures, leading modernization and migration efforts, and guiding engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high‑performing enterprise applications. The ideal candidate brings a balance of hands‑on technical depth, architectural strategy, and the ability to lead and mentor technical teams. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute modernization and migration initiatives to Azure PaaS services (e.g., App Service, Azure Functions, AKS, Container Instances). Conduct application modernization assessments, develop target‑state cloud architectures, and define migration roadmaps. Optimize hosting, performance, scalability, cost efficiency, and system reliability. Provide technical leadership to teams of 5+ engineers, ensuring architectural alignment and delivery excellence. Design and implement Azure Landing Zones following best practices for security, governance, and networking. Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Data, DevOps, and Integration teams to ensure end‑to‑end solution coherence. Assess and tune application performance before and after migration. Technical Requirements 13+ years of experience in application development and modernization. Strong hands‑on experience migrating and hosting applications on Azure PaaS (App Services, Functions, AKS). Experience with IIS hosting, containerization, and Kubernetes‑based runtime environments. Solid understanding of application architecture, integrations, networking, and security patterns. Working knowledge of database connectivity, caching, session management, and configuration best practices. Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize Azure application environments. Leadership Expectations Experience leading teams of 5+ engineers, with the ability to mentor, coach, and guide. Capable of aligning technical direction to business priorities and delivering to timelines. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including executive‑level engagement.
