Principal Installation Analysis Engineer

Job Overview The Principal Installation Analysis Engineer is responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices, solving complex Installation Analysis‑related problems, and working independently with minimal guidance. The role may include leading functional teams or projects and is regarded as a specialist in Installation Analysis, requiring in‑depth expertise in Installation Analysis as well as broad knowledge of the Installation Analysis discipline within the Engineering function. Responsibilities Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards. Apply in‑depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and nonstandard situations. Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures. Manage own time to meet objectives and forecast and plan resource requirements as Lead Engineer. Communicate and explain difficult concepts, persuade others to adopt a point of view. When acting as Lead Engineer, direct an Engineering team, lead the discipline engineering design of the assigned work area, complete it within the planned schedule and budget, organize and direct all aspects of discipline execution, maintain coordination with other disciplines, maintain documentation of substantive communications, prepare estimates for bid proposals, handle variations and change notifications, interface with certifying authorities, auditors, third parties, and enforce MDR and project‑specific procedures. Review and approve engineering design basis, philosophies, technical specifications, deliverable lists, and ensure compliance with specifications and functional integrity. Attend project meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings, and offshore site surveys. Prepare, review, and approve design reports and procedures. Provide necessary design inputs to enable other disciplines to proceed with their deliverables. Assist procurement personnel in procuring equipment and services, review and approve requisitions, evaluate quotations, compile bid tabulations, and coordinate with Procurement. Update weight reports, review vendor and subcontractor submittals, approve design verification through single‑discipline check/inter‑discipline check. Provide technical support to fabrication queries, keep the manager and project management team apprised of activities, assist in forecasting progress reports, check subcontractor and vendor data, present issues to customers, assist in negotiating resolutions, perform technical quality audit reviews, capture lessons learned, guide less experienced engineers, supervise and guide assigned engineers, maintain department guidelines, participate in development of global procedures, software, and standards, provide training on specific techniques, assist with performance reviews, and select applicants for hiring. Perform, review, and approve pipeline installation engineering designs, analyses, evaluations, calculations, and procedures for loadout, transportation, and installation of submerged pipelines, risers, spools, PLETS, manifolds, cables. Perform, review, and approve structural installation engineering designs for offshore structures, barge upgrades, and modifications. As Lead Engineer, act as project‑based discipline point of contact, plan tasks and budgets, monitor KPI measurement, coordinate with other discipline lead engineers, review comments from customers, assist in quarterly forecasts, plan performance monitoring, and coordinate with vendors for discipline‑managed items. Qualifications Years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant, predominantly performing construction and installation design; detailed knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods, detailed knowledge of the theory, content, and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable; knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills; preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society.
