Senior Android Automation Engineer, Quality Engineering Join Airbnb – a global community of hosts and guests. The Quality Engineering team builds high‑quality software efficiently, leveraging AI-powered tools to continuously improve test coverage and automation across Airbnb’s massive codebase. Responsibilities Build and maintain automation coverage for new features and releases, collaborating with product engineering to develop and maintain test tools. Lead the implementation of a test automation strategy covering the entire testing pyramid (unit, service, integration, end‑to‑end). Improve existing automation frameworks and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. Debug issues found during testing and after release. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (product, development, CI/CD, other QE teams) in a fast‑paced environment. Guide designs to enhance modularity and testability, participate in design reviews and architecture discussions. Typical Day Leverage AI and tooling to lead implementation of test automation strategy. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure robust test coverage. Improve automation frameworks for new functionalities and optimize quality. Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure thorough coverage at every stage. Diagnose and verify bug fixes, debug issues post‑release. Be a player in the high‑performance team focusing on code quality and operational excellence. Work with cross‑functional teams including product management, development, and other QE teams. Your Expertise 5+ years industry experience in software testing and automation. Proficient in at least one programming language (Kotlin, Java) and strong scripting skills. Strong knowledge of test automation methodologies, tools, and frameworks. Hands‑on experience with automation frameworks (e.g., Espresso). Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Buildkite, Spinnaker, Jenkins) and version control systems (Git). Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration. Expertise developing solutions to ambiguous problems and driving integrations across multiple teams. Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent. Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is essential.
