About the Client : A leading independent global news organization dedicated to delivering fast, accurate, and unbiased reporting across all formats. With a history dating back to 1846, the company is a trusted source for journalism worldwide and a key provider of the technology and services that power the news industry. Its reporting reaches more than half of the world’s population every day.

Job Summary

We are building an AI-powered personalization platform designed to revolutionize how audiences interact with news. This initiative will harness machine learning and generative AI to deliver dynamic, user-centric experiences—including intelligent story summarization across evolving news updates, personalized story tracking, and tailored content delivery via web, mobile, and notifications. The system is being developed on a modern, scalable cloud-based architecture to support real-time personalization at a global scale. This Back-End Engineer is a key position to leverage the project.

Responsibilities
  • Build and expose APIs (Summarization, Follow Story, Catch-Up).
  • Integrate with Brightspot CMS (Publishing & Delivery).
  • Implement notification routing rules (OneSignal/Sailthru).
  • Ensure performance, reliability, and error handling.
Qualifications And Job Requirements
  • Experience with Java, especially in extending Brightspot CMS.
  • Proficient in Python, Node.js, or Java for backend development on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Familiarity with GCP services: Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and BigQuery.
  • Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL API design.
  • Comfortable working in modern, cloud-native development environments.
