Sanitation Technician II Job Summary
Sanitation Technicians play an important role by cleaning production equipment, machines, and work areas in the processing facility. They are responsible for handling and preparing cleaning chemicals, preparing sanitizers, preparing chemical concentrations, handling and storing the chemicals, and managing chemical accidents.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Cleans and verifies the proper cleaning of all equipment
- Operates COP/CIP wash systems
- Cleans facility warehouse and office areas
- Operates floor scrubber and vacuums
- Properly puts away and stores production and sanitation materials
- Monitors/tests chemical concentration of all systems
- Maintains Chart Recorders and documents necessary information on charts and logs
- Takes inventory of sanitation supplies
- Performs tasks according to the plant Master Cleaning Schedule
- Performs basic troubleshooting and upkeep of sanitation equipment
- Maintains a safe and orderly work area following GMP and Safety guidelines
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Lead person
- Follows safety rules, SOPs, and GMPs
Qualifications
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems
- Proficient with data entry and checklists
- Knowledge of sanitation chemicals and cleaning processes in food facilities
- Ability to operate floor scrubber and vacuums
- Data entry, math, and computer skills
- Team-oriented collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of sanitation experience required
- Experience with sanitation equipment in food manufacturing preferred
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, walking, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, etc.
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds
Work Environment
This position is on the manufacturing floor almost constantly. Exposure to allergens such as milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, nuts, wheat, sesame, and soybeans is likely.
