This role will ensure data integrity, optimize database performance, and support data-driven initiatives, particularly within the higher education sector.Duties and Responsibilities:Data Modelling and SQL DevelopmentDesign and implement scalable and efficient relational and dimensional data models.Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.Ensure data quality and integrity across various data sources and reporting layers.Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ExpertiseUtilize GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and Dataflow for data storage, processing, and analysis.Implement and manage cloud-based data warehouses and data lakes on GCP.Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions for GCP data environments using tools like Terraform.Monitor and optimize GCP resource performance and cost for data platforms.Collaboration and CommunicationServe as a primary liaison among business leads, product managers, and data/engineering teams.Facilitate demos, knowledge-sharing sessions, and best-practice documentation for data solutions.Promote adoption of new data capabilities and practices; gather feedback for continuous improvement.Release and Change ManagementCoordinate release plans, timelines, and stakeholder readiness for data model and SQL deployments.Ensure training, job aids, and rollout communications are prepared and delivered for data solutions.Track post-release issues, adoption, and stabilization metrics related to data platforms.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Ability to produce and manage, work autonomously, and take initiative.“Can-do” attitude with unwavering ethics and a willingness to help others.Exceptional relationship-building skills, cultural competency, and ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people and roles.Willingness to embrace relational nuances, own personal mistakes, be empathetic, address conflicts directly and transparently, and commit to self-reflection and self-betterment.Dexterity to effectively deal with ambiguity, change, and continuous process improvements.Strong business analysis fundamentals: elicitation, documentation, process mapping, traceability, UAT.Requirements:Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational database design and data modelling.Demonstrable experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services (e.G., BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Dataflow).Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code solutions, e.G., Terraform.Experience with data quality checks and data governance best practices.Experience with Git and Git providers, e.G., GitHub/BitBucket/GitLab.Nice-to-haves:Experience in the higher education space.Experience with data orchestration frameworks, e.G., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, dbt.Experience with monitoring and observability tools for data platforms.Familiarity with Python for data scripting and automation.Credentials and Experience:College degree or equivalent life/work experience.5+ years in SQL engineering, data modelling, data engineering, or a related data-centric role, preferably within SaaS, marketing technology, higher ed tech, or related domains.We offer:We welcome new ideas and allow you to make an immediate impact on the team.Flexible Paid time off (PTO for any reason, including sick days (no specified limits) and flexible work schedule.Personal laptop.Health/Sport Budget.Fully remote.
