Principal Front-end Engineer We are seeking a hands‑on technical leader to define and drive the future of user interface development at Questrade. Lead architectural design and development of complex, high‑performance front‑end applications using React Native and Angular. Act as a technical mentor and force‑multiplier; coach senior and intermediate engineers. Lead efforts to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across front‑end platforms; architect robust solutions for high‑frequency, real‑time data streaming. Establish and govern front‑end engineering best practices, including code quality, component libraries, state management, testing strategies, CI/CD, and cross‑platform development. Spearhead research, prototyping, and adoption of new front‑end technologies and frameworks. Champion exploration and integration of AI tools and technologies to enhance developer productivity and improve application features. Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, architects, and other engineering leaders to influence product roadmap. Tackle complex technical challenges in the front‑end domain, including performance and cross‑platform compatibility. Qualifications 8+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on front‑end development. Expert‑level knowledge and hands‑on mastery of JavaScript/TypeScript and the React Native ecosystem. Strong, hands‑on experience with modern web development using Angular. Experience or understanding of back‑end development using NodeJS is a strong asset. Demonstrated experience designing, building, scaling complex, high‑traffic front‑end applications. Proven experience optimizing front‑end application performance; deep understanding of real‑time data streaming. Technical leadership experience: mentor, guide, influence peers. In‑depth experience with state management libraries, RESTful APIs, CI/CD practices. Excellent communication skills; ability to articulate complex technical concepts. Strong sense of ownership, results‑oriented mindset, accountability. Passion for continuous learning, staying current with industry trends and driving innovation.
