About the Role

Based in São Paulo, your role is a mix of underwriting and client interaction – two highly fast-paced areas that require a very flexible approach. You will be contacting clients and brokers directly. Main tasks/activities are:

  • Underwriting for new and existing clients.
  • Analysis and assess Property submissions in respect of exposure and coverages, prepare quotations, structure programs, fac reinsurance, and offer proposals for leading or following business.
  • Broker and client visits for building and fostering relationships.
  • Develop strategies to adapt position on current accounts and to cross-sell other lines of business in collaboration with sales.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of Brazil insurance market in respects of wording, insurance law and regulation as well as brokers and competitors.

Be part of the Brazil Direct Insurance UW team. We are a diverse group of friendly people who work closely together, maintaining the current book of business, developing and managing our current portfolio and brokers relationships.

We are a team of Underwriters for middle accounts. The positive relationship with our customers and brokers in Brazil in addition to our strong brand is the basis for our success. With our continuous improvement attitude, we desire to provide our external clients and internal peers with fast and effective solutions for conducting business within an environment where the risks are understood.

About you

You've got strong interpersonal skills and communicate well. You're curious—always asking questions and searching for solutions, have collaborative and cross-functional skills. New ideas excite you and you're keen to explore new experiences. Growth drives you.

  • Bachelor's degree required (engineering, administration, economics, etc).
  • At least 5 years of underwriting experience, focused on large accounts.
  • General knowledge of and/or exposure to other insurance disciplines, i.e., contract wording, claims, risk surveys.
  • Negotiation skills, good network in the Brazilian insurance market.

Nice to Have

  • Good English and Spanish skills.
  • Confirmed ability to meet deliverables, implement plans, and conduct analysis.
  • Availability for eventual business trips.
