We’re hiring a Backend Cloud Engineer toevolve and maintainthe APIs, databases, and services that power payments, wallet, rewards, and near-real-time features.The roleYou’ll work across our event-driven, serverless stack tomaintain and evolveproduction systems. That means adding features, fixing bugs, improving performance and cost, tightening security, and raising reliability—while collaborating closely with Mobile/Web.What you’ll doMaintain and evolve AWS Lambda microservices behindAmazon API Gateway ( & Web Socket)andAWS Io T Core; implement authentication/authorization viaCognito User Pools (JWT) and Lambda authorizersfor REST/Maintain and optimizedata models and access patterns in Dynamo DB and My SQL (RDS); handle indexes, migrations, and query performance.Maintainasynchronous workflows using SQS/SNS (idempotency, DLQs, retries) and keep observability healthy with Cloud Watch metrics/logs and alarms.Maintain and improveour Ia C (AWS SAM/Cloud Formation), CI/CD pipelines, and environment promotions.Integrate andsupportthird-party services used for payments, open banking, notifications, fraud/risk, analytics and support tooling.Troubleshoot production issues, drive RCAs, and implement preventive fixes and runbooks.Uphold security best practices (least-privilege IAM, secret management, input validation, auditability).Tech you’ll touchAWS Lambda, API Gateway (REST/Web Socket), Cognito, Dynamo DB, RDS My SQL, SQS/SNS, S3, IAM, Cloud Watch, Cloud Formation/SAM, EC2, ECS, plus fintech/comms integrations (Open Banking/PSP, Gift Cards, Analytics, Messaging, Support, and Risk assessment tools).Must-haves8+ years building/maintaining production backends; 4+ years with AWS serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, Dynamo DB).Proficiency in Java Script/Node.js; strong REST API fundamentals and event-driven patterns.Solid SQL/No SQL skills (schema design, indexing, query tuning).Experience maintaining Ia C (SAM/Cloud Formation) and CI/CD (Code Pipeline).Security-first mindset and practical debugging/troubleshooting chops (OWASP).Web Socket/API Gateway connection management and real-time features.Payments/fintech and fraud/risk integrations.Observability practices (dashboards, tracing, log correlation) and SLOs.Elastic Beanstalk familiarity and data pipelines/warehousing exposure.How we workRemote-first within UK time zone, startup-paced, with high ownership.
