Amazon is a fast paced, dynamic, high-tech company based in Seattle, WA USA. The global accounting organization supports our financial reporting, internal control, intercompany, and transfer pricing activities and also supports new launches globally for Amazon in the consumer products, digital initiatives, merchant, operations, logistics, payments, and cloud computing lines of business.

We are currently looking for a senior level candidate to help support the growth in Amazon’s Sao Paulo, Brazil office. Successful candidates will have solid professional experience with financial reporting and internal control responsibilities, and have held similar positions in larger public companies or managerial roles in Big 4 public accounting firms serving Fortune 500 clients for two or more years. Candidates may also have held senior analyst accounting or finance positions in public or private companies. Demonstrated experience in leading teams to accomplish complex challenges is also expected.

This position will support the Brazil Accounting team in overseeing financial accounting and reporting functions in Brazil and Latin America, reporting to an accounting manager. The role includes understanding internal control design concepts, assessing control effectiveness, and influencing system, process, and control design for growing activities. Technical accounting research and position paper writing may also be required.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • CRC (local CPA) Certificate
  • Solid accounting experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Understanding of internal control frameworks and control design concepts
  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP (including FASB Codification) and research tools
  • Experience documenting accounting conclusions and support
  • Fluency in Portuguese (spoken and written)
  • Good analytical skills
  • Proven ability to solve complex operational and accounting challenges
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA certificate (or equivalent)
  • Big 4 experience with Fortune 500 clients
  • Operational accounting experience with international companies
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-tech startup environments
  • Leadership aptitude and influencing skills
  • Organizational skills and IT proficiency
  • Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written)
