VMware Engineer (Remote – EST Hours) Schedule: 40h/week • On-call rotation required Contract: Contractor About the Role Our client is looking for an experienced VMware Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in virtualization, networking, storage, and system integration. This professional will support a large-scale VMware environment, ensuring reliability, performance, and seamless operations across clusters, VSAN, and related technologies. The ideal candidate has solid experience managing VMware ESXi and v Center environments, performing updates, troubleshooting network configurations at the hypervisor level, and working with advanced VMware products in enterprise-scale data centers. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain VMware clusters, including VDS and v SAN (minimum 2 years of v SAN experience). Perform upgrades and updates on ESXi hosts and v Center Servers . Diagnose and resolve issues related to networking at the hypervisor level, including VLANs, trunks, and VM network assignments. Support and maintain medium-to-large scale VMware ESX/ESXi environments (5.0+). Administer and troubleshoot VMware features such as HA, FT, DRS, Storage DRS, v Motion, Storage v Motion . Work with additional VMware components including: SRM (6.0, 6.5, 8.2, 8.3) v Sphere Replication (8.2, 8.3) VMware HCX 3.5.3 v Center Update Manager (4.0–6.7) SSO, PSC controllers, NSX-V, NSX-T 2.5.1 Implement and maintain Active Directory integrations within v Center. Support system integration, storage connectivity, replication, and engineering of critical infrastructure components. Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware ESX/ESXi in enterprise environments. Strong experience with v SAN (mandatory). Expertise in VMware cluster management, VDS, storage, and virtualization best practices. Experience administering VMware versions 3.5 through 6.7 . Knowledge in updating ESXi hosts, v Center, and VMware components. Solid understanding of network configuration at the hypervisor level (VLANs, trunks, virtual networks, troubleshooting). Experience with VMware replication, SRM, and HCX migrations. Basic knowledge of Active Directory and how to integrate/implement in v Center environments. Experience supporting virtualization in medium to large data center environments. Nice to Have Experience with NSX-T or NSX-V in production. Familiarity with scripting or automation (Power CLI, Python, etc.). Exposure to storage arrays, backup solutions, and disaster recovery planning. Work Environment Remote role aligned to EST business hours (8:30 AM–5:30 PM) . Includes on-call rotation for critical support needs.
