A career opportunity has arisen for a Commodities Research Analyst in São Paulo. The successful candidate will join a global research team responsible for proprietary fundamental research and data analysis to support the physical sugar trading teams. The role would be suitable for an economist or agronomist with at least 2 years of experience in the sugar and ethanol industry. Strong communication skills as well as data-handling and advanced excel skills are essential. We work to develop regional supply/demand analysis, whilst maintaining strong contacts within the sugar and ethanol industry. Working with our sugar research team in Brazil, India, Singapore, China and USA, the candidate will benefit from the department's global reach. Established in 1783, we are a market leader in Commodity Trading with 3,500 people in 50 countries. We trade sugar, coffee, molasses and cotton. Corporate responsibility is ingrained in our culture. This role will concentrate on providing crucial information to the business about strategic market developments in the industry, and on producing creative ideas and solutions linked to the changing Brazilian and global sugar trading environment. Key Responsibilities: Maintain and develop our in-house database of price, shipments, weather and crop data; Produce regular emails and reports for internal and external publications; Monitor and analyse key market drivers and new developments in order to develop insightful assessment of the global ethanol market; Generate timely and ad-hoc updates to the trading teams to strengthen the commercial position of the business; Help to maintain global and regional supply/demand models, price models, vessel line-ups and trade flows of sugar, corn and ethanol; Analyse developments in physical and futures markets, weather, regulatory and trading environment; Take a proactive approach in supporting the Head of sugar research, traders and other stakeholders in their market analysis needs and requests. Requirements: Minimum of 2 years' experience in market intelligence ideally across biofuels and sugar, but open to agricultural commodities experience; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey facts and ideas clearly; Data and excel skills, with an ability to analyze fundamentals and non-fundamental data to drive trade recommendations; Advanced MS-Excel user is required. Power BI is advantageous; A keen enthusiasm for research, economics and agricultural commodities, as the role will focus largely on the management, analysis and dissemination of proprietary data; Able to travel and perform crop tours; Self-motivated, curious and organised with attention to detail and goal-oriented; Advanced English language knowledge is required.
