In addition, traveling may be required to project sites.Position SummaryThe Development Engineer supports the Development Engineering Manager with projects located across America. This position manages the conceptual design of Recurrent Energy’s utility scale photovoltaic (PV) power plants and battery energy storage system (BESS) facilities. This role is involved from early-stage site evaluation and diligence through contractor hand-off. ResponsibilitiesManage the conceptual design of a portfolio of PV and BESS projects with the direction of the engineering managerProactively plan and manage the workload of drafting consultants and staffPrepare conceptual PV and BESS design layouts and single line drawingsPerform PV Plant design optimization based on site-specific environmental factors and constraintsPerform site diligence and preliminary design workstreams to ensure project-specific risks are mitigatedCreate design specifications and coordinate design handoff to the performance and cost estimating teamsManage the evolving project Site Constraints Plan from early site diligence through EPC RFP, including a detailed knowledge of all plottable title issuesExecute site visits to assess land characteristics and identify prioritization of diligenceSupport the procurement of land diligence studies (e.G. geotech, hydro, surveying)Support the permitting and real estate teams with analysis and exhibitsPerform civil studies (e.G. hydrological, earthworks, SWPPP)Financial & Organizational ScopeManages consultant work orders to ensure scope, schedule, quality, and coordination requirements are met. Multiple evolving survey and environmental x’ref filesstate plane coordinate systems, grid vs ground coordinatesmodel vs paper-space, layer & line type management, version & quality controlExperience interpreting survey and construction drawingsStrong knowledge of ExcelExperience using Google Earth to investigate project sitesUnderstanding of land development including civil site issues, hydrology, easements and utility routingIn-depth engineering experience with construction drawings for land development and/or infrastructure projectsExcellent organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize competing deadlines and a portfolio of projectsStrong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to summarize complex issues and opportunities.Detail-oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility for work products and team success.Extensive on-boarding, training, and guidance will be provided.Experience reviewing construction cost estimates and schedules is a plusExperience with HEC-RAS and ACAD Civil 3D are a plus.Requirements4-year Engineering degree from an accredited educational institution.B.S.In Civil (preferred), Electrical or Mechanical EngineeringEIT certification a plus2+ years of engineering experience with land development and/or infrastructure project designPrior experience in the renewable energy industry preferred but not required.Must be bilingual in Portuguese and English.Recurrent Energy is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
