Senior Installation Analysis Engineer The Senior Installation Analysis Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Installation Analysis discipline within McDermott. They act as a resource for colleagues with less experience, sharing expert conceptual and practical knowledge. The role solves complex problems, utilizes discipline-specific knowledge, and impacts customer, operational, project, or service activities across the installation team and related groups. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed design as per design basis, project specifications, codes, and standards. Lead the Engineering team when acting as a Project Coordinator. Apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and non‑standard situations. Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and reports. Manage time to meet deadlines and budgets, developing short‑term work plans. Communicate and explain complex issues establishing understanding. Provide engineering support onboard installation vessels offshore. Be fully familiar with the project scope, specifications, schedule, and inter‑discipline requirements, raising concerns early and taking appropriate actions. Identify scope changes and promptly raise change notifications and provide supporting documentation and estimates. Interface with all disciplines to develop clash‑free designs. Maintain cooperation with other engineering disciplines, planning, fabrication, marine, and project management teams. Document substantive communications and forward copies to the Discipline Lead Engineer. Assist in preparing bid proposal estimates, including technical query reviews and work‑hour estimates. Raise technical queries to obtain missing information and maintain preferred McDermott procedures. Prepare discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, and technical specifications. Participate in finalizing deliverable lists, ensuring compliance with specifications and functional integrity. Attend project review meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings, and offshore site surveys as required. Provide technical direction and review of designers producing Construction/Installation Support Engineering products. Assist procurement personnel in producing discipline equipment, materials, and services. Assist in updating weight reports based on vendor information. Check engineering performed by others within the discipline. Perform design verification through single‑discipline and inter‑discipline checks (IDC). Provide technical support to fabricating queries, including defect/rectification requirements. Keep the lead engineer apprised of all activities and concerns (technical, budgetary, manpower). Assist in providing inputs for planning and forecasting progress reports, including productivity metrics. Participate in internal, customer, and third‑party technical audits of engineering deliverables. Assist lead engineer with responses to customers and agencies on reviews and approvals. Capture lessons learned and enter them into the MDR Lessons Learned system. Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues and guide them on MDR and discipline procedures. Be aware of costs related to own work and the discipline. Design Environments Pipeline installation discipline: review pipeline installation designs, analyses, and procedures for spools, PLETS and manifolds, and cables. Structural installation discipline: review designs for loadout, transportation, and installation of offshore structures, including barge upgrades/modifications. Naval installation discipline: review naval architecture designs related to all aspects of marine operations covering loadout, transportation, and installation. Additional Preferred Skills Erection sequences for jackets, topsides, and other structures. Loadout procedures and guidance during operations. Construction lift analyses and procedures (floatover, stacking, roll‑ups). Weighing procedures. Design and detailing of miscellaneous fabrication yard items. Crane arrangements and rigging arrangements. Trailer arrangements/operations, including drawings and procedures. Essential Qualifications and Education Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture, Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred). 8–15 years of experience in oil and gas, predominantly in construction and installation design at a major contractor or consultant. Strong working knowledge of design techniques, analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of relevant standards, codes, and guidelines for onshore and offshore construction. Preferably a Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society.
