About the role: As a SDET Engineer, you’ll take ownership of building and driving a modern testing culture from the ground up. This role goes beyond traditional QA — you’ll design and evolve automated testing frameworks, guide developers in adopting a shift-left approach, and ensure quality is integrated throughout the entire development lifecycle. By combining your Python expertise with a passion for testing excellence, you’ll play a key role in delivering reliable, scalable software that makes an impact.

What you will do
  • Become the first SDET in the team and define how we approach testing
  • Drive the testing infrastructure and ensure high-quality standards across our product
  • Mentor and support developers to take ownership of their own testing
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to co-own and write automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end, performance)
  • Promote a shift-left QA mindset, embedding testing throughout the development process rather than leaving it as a final stage
  • Continuously improve our testing practices, tools, and processes to increase efficiency and reliability
MUST HAVES
  • Strong experience of at least 4 years as a Python engineer (building production systems)
  • Proven track record designing and implementing automated testing frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance/load testing
  • Product-focused mindset with curiosity about the bigger picture
  • Proactive, takes ownership, and responsible for outcomes
  • Bias for action: able to quickly test, iterate, and make decisions without getting stuck
  • Scrappy mindset: focus on delivering business value over unnecessary perfection
  • Ability to thrive in a fully remote, collaborative environment with honesty and radical candor
  • Full overlap with Eastern European Time or at least 6+ hours
  • Upper-Intermediate English level
NICE TO HAVES
  • Experience with Python web frameworks (Django, FastAPI)
  • Frontend experience (testing approaches and frameworks such as Vue.js or React)
  • Early-stage startup experience
  • Experience building with LLMs or agentic AI systems
