What you will do

At Vehicle Technology, you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry, and society at large.
We are currently looking for a Development Engineer who excels at HW development within the EE area, such as ECUs, sensors, and actuators and has experience as a tester in the framework/non-functional/functional aspects within the electrical domain. Additionally, you possess excellent customer focus, delivery accuracy, and effective communication skills. Like our team, you are passionate about working in the automotive industry.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Lead component development activities with the supplier following Volvo GTT processes and guidelines
  2. Visualize, develop, and maintain the product roadmap
  3. Able to understand the roadmap for ECUs from a future perspective and work on concept building
  4. Define and refine the technical requirements
  5. Maintain the ECUs that are already in production for quality improvement and customer satisfaction
  6. Interface with related teams across different functions within Volvo R&D
  7. Support with RFQ, sourcing, and supplier selection process as per the project requirements and milestones
  8. Create, define, and support strategy for testing of ECU, integration with Basis SW, and integration to system testing
  9. Coordinate overall activities to construct the test environment for V & V
  10. Review supplier design documents and secure conformity to the technical requirements, installation requirements, etc.
  11. Ensuring solutions are verified and validated against requirements
  12. Be an active member of our agile team working with the JIRA backlog and secure product documentation and release processes
  13. Solve challenges in current products and solve quality issues as and when needed
  14. Support functional verification and fault tracing in vehicles as well as in rigs and lab environment
  15. Coordinate overall quality activities for the Hardware part (FMEA, Defect Reports)
  16. Validate documentation relating to the components, according to system/subsystem requirements and to the component Technical Requirement and supplier input
  17. Perform integration testing prior to release
  18. Root Cause Analysis for issues raised by local testing teams
  19. Exploratory testing
  20. Coordinate release activities with local testing teams
  21. Document the released Test Activities as per the defined Volvo processes and systems

Who are you?

  1. Good level of knowledge in both Electrical & Electronics Technology
  2. Good domain knowledge in the Test & Verification area
  3. Experience with HIL testing and vehicle testing
  4. Knowledge with Power & CAN modules, Microcontrollers, High & low side drives, Sensor communication, LED drivers, H-Bridge Controllers, etc.
  5. Embedded systems – Good understanding of basic HW components (ECUs, sensors, actuators, and wiring harnesses) and SW design (basic SW architecture, communication protocols, diagnostics)
  6. Complete know-how on end-to-end ECU hardware development and Validation
  7. Hands-on experience with schematics & simulation Tools and exposure to development tools (CAN, CANoe, LIN, etc.)
  8. Experience with ISO 26262 functional safety and Cyber security is an added advantage
  9. Knowledge of Ethernet and advanced communication protocols is an added advantage
  10. Experience in working with vehicle network architecture, communication & diagnostic protocols (CAN, LIN, J1939, ISO 14230, ISO 14229)
  11. Experience in hardware and Power management concepts, debugging Hardware Issues
  12. Experience in using test and verification measuring and monitoring (preferably CANalyzer and/or CANoe) equipment
  13. Hands-on experience with lab equipment like Digital storage oscilloscope, multimeter, current probe, bus analyser, CAN Stress tool
  14. Strong communication skills and proven collaboration skills
  15. 5 years of automotive product development experience
  16. Fluent proficiency level of English, both written and spoken
  17. Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree or equivalent
