Senior Software Engineer

Overview We are hiring multiple Senior Software Engineers to join the Microsoft 365 team. These are remote positions, allowing you to work from home. The Microsoft 365 team is looking for software engineers to help design and build one of the fastest-growing cloud services at Microsoft. We build and operate the largest enterprise cloud productivity system in the world, powering Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and more. We focus on reliability, privacy, compliance, and millisecond-level latency. The work involves API design, machine learning, distributed computing, workflow engines, algorithm optimization, and more. More About Your Responsibilities Software Engineers at Microsoft drive technical details for product teams. They design and implement high-scale, low-latency, always-on services that are cost-effective to maintain. They collaborate with principal engineers and architects to design components and influence common development patterns. Strong partnership and influence skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate across teams. Position specifics will be determined following the interview process. Responsibilities Drive projects through to delivery, removing obstacles to ensure success. Contribute to the design of large-scale distributed software services and solutions. Write clean, well-tested code. Champion and improve team software engineering practices. Mentor junior engineers. Collaborate with related teams to achieve goals. Promote knowledge sharing and contribute to onboarding documentation. Participate in the on-call rotation to monitor service health and manage incidents. Qualifications Main Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science or Engineering OR equivalent experience. At least 5 years of experience in software design and backend service development. 5+ years of hands-on experience in an object-oriented language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, or equivalent experience with C. Global collaboration is integral to our work at Microsoft, and proficiency in English is essential for effective communication in this role. Preferred Qualifications Master\'s degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Ability to communicate technical details clearly. Experience in DevOps for live services or application frameworks. Cloud services experience; Azure experience is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to software design. Passion for building reliable, well-tested services. Experience with Agile and iterative development processes.
