Role OverviewThe SAP Basis Consultant leads S/4HANA migration activities, administers SAP Basis and HANA infrastructure, supports integrations, and ensures best‑practice compliance across the enterprise landscape. Core ResponsibilitiesPlanned and executed S/4HANA migration activities using SUM/DMO, including sandbox cycles, quality cycles and production cutover. Conducted system assessments, readiness checks, simplification reviews and technical mitigation plans before each conversion. Managed SAP installations, upgrades, system copies, refreshes and landscape standardisation. Performed HANA database administration tasks—monitoring, tuning, memory management, backups and recovery procedures. Coordinated and troubleshot integrations, RFCs, proxies, PI/PO, SAP BTP services and middleware connectivity. Defined and executed transport strategy across development and functional streams. Supported data‑migration teams with technical dependency mapping, load sequencing and validation. Managed Fiori activation, configuration, launchpad setup and security alignment with Basis and Authorization teams. Ensured compliance with SAP security baselines, audit requirements (SOX, GRC, segregation of duties) and best practices. Acted as escalation point for landscape performance issues, upgrade blockers, interface errors and conversion anomalies. Key QualificationsStrong knowledge of HANA database administration, monitoring, backup strategies, performance optimisation and high‑availability concepts. Deep expertise with SUM/DMO, Maintenance Planner, Software Provisioning Manager (SWPM), SAPCAR, SAP Notes corrections, SPAM/SAINT and kernel operations. Practical understanding of S/4HANA architecture, simplification items, data‑model changes, CDS views, embedded analytics, Fiori, Gateway and new integration patterns. Experience with cloud hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern SAP landscapes (RAP, BTP, Integration Suite). Knowledge of system sizing, quick‑sizers, capacity planning and performance baselines. Preferred CertificationsSAP Certified Technology Specialist – SAP S/4HANA Conversion & System Upgrade. SAP Basis or System Administration certification. Cloud certification (AWS, Azure or GCP). SAP Activate methodology (nice to have). Soft SkillsMethodical mindset, strong investigative instinct and ability to untangle complex technical issues. Clear communication, skilled in explaining technical risks to functional teams and executives. High sense of ownership, autonomy and structured problem‑solving. Ability to coordinate cross‑functional technical teams during critical‑path activities such as migration weekends.
