We help our customers with cloud adoption by providing architecture, migration, optimization, machine learning, and 24/7 support. We are a professional services firm offering software engineering and cloud services, including Technical consulting, Programming & Quality Assurance, DevOps, Applications, UX, Product management, and Project management. Metal Toad is a fully remote company. For this opportunity, the selected candidate must be available to work Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time (PST). This position is contracted with currently Brazil-based candidates being considered and compensation will be in Brazilian Reais (R$) in accordance with local currency. Job Description The Fullstack Software Engineer position at Metal Toad requires experience in building high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications. You will be part of a talented team that works on mission-critical applications. Responsibilities Able to adapt to a dynamic and collaborative work environment, make independent decisions, and communicate them effectively. Confirms project requirements by reviewing program objectives, input data, and output requirements with PMs, supervisors, and clients. Provide estimates based on requirements, wireframes, and designs. Own project success by proactively communicating risks, known issues, and changelogs. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle. Work as part of a team. Code conforms to best practices and values well-tested code. Perform peer code reviews and create projects that are free of major defects. Maintain a positive and respectful tone in all interactions. Handle backend and frontend tasks according to demand. Expertise Research new libraries, techniques, and ideas. Interested in publishing blog posts showing technical expertise. Accept ownership for new and different requests and explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Qualifications Required Agree with our Corporate Values Statement. Believes in the company's mission: to help people. Believes in open source principles. Advanced to fluent English communication skills. 4+ years of experience with Laravel. Familiar with relational database concepts. Familiarity with Postman and how to make API calls. Experience with or knowledge of the following technologies: REST API development and deployment. JSON modeling and usage. Querying and modeling using a relational data store. Using package managers such as Composer. Using Git for source control. Familiar with other PHP stacks. Scripting experience with PHP, JavaScript, or Python. Experience with web accelerators, load balancers, reverse proxies, and CDNs. Nice to have AWS Certifications or willingness to get certified.
