Linux Desktop & Devices Support Engineer is a remote role focused on delivering an outstanding technical support experience across the full desktop and server technical stack. Responsibilities Investigate customer issues by researching and escalating when necessary. Resolve complex technical problems related to Canonical’s portfolio of products. Own support cases and manage them in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLA). Engage directly with customers via phone, ticketing system, and remote sessions. Participate in a regular weekend working rotation. Contribute new knowledge base articles and maintain existing ones. Understand Ubuntu development process to set realistic expectations on fix timelines. Qualifications Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills. Exceptional academic track record from high school and university. Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path. Experience with Linux troubleshooting, collecting logs, stack traces, and configuration editing. Experience with Linux integration with authentication/directory services and network file systems. Strong troubleshooting skills, navigation of stack traces and logs, and escalation judgement. Programming fundamentals in any language. Ability to learn quickly, thrive on change, and handle the pressure of a customer‑facing job. Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.
