Market VoidThe current medicinal mushroom industry is split between low-quality producers and US cultivators with limited capabilities and product offerings. The industry is void of a low-cost, US-based producer that can offer a full medicinal mushroom product line (pure fruiting body and mycelium-based products) and that can serve as an unbiased, scientifically sound market educator and leader.

Our PassionWe know mushrooms From seed (spawn) to powder, we have control over every aspect of our business as we\'re a vertically integrated mushroom producer in North America. The spawn we use to grow our medicinal mushrooms is produced by our affiliate, Amycel SpawnMate. Then, we grow, dry, and package everything at our facilities in California to ensure our mushroom powders reach their full potential. If that is not enough, we third-party test for heavy metals, pesticides, mycotoxins, polysaccharides, and various compounds. What Do We Expect?The Monterey Nutra Division is a fast-growing B2B business unit supplying premium mushroom ingredients—such as powders and extracts—for use in functional beverages, supplements, gummies, and more. Monterey Nutra is a subsidiary of Monterey Mushrooms and Amycel. We are looking for a highly motivated, professional, and adaptable Marketing Specialist to join our team remotely from California and able to travel regularly.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing, entrepreneurial environment. You will play a hands-on role in executing marketing initiatives across a wide range of activities—from content creation, brand storytelling, and digital campaigns to light graphic design and strategic planning. The ideal candidate is organized, articulate, and confident in customer-facing and internal meetings, capable of juggling both creative and tactical marketing responsibilities.

What are we looking for?- Execute marketing strategies and campaigns that support our B2B ingredient sales across nutraceutical, food, and beverage markets
- Create and edit compelling content for digital and print-product sell sheets, presentations, web content, email campaigns, social media, blogs, etc.
- Manage project timelines and marketing deliverables, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned
- Support branding and storytelling efforts across our channels and customer touchpoints
- Make graphic edits and manage basic design projects using Adobe Creative Suite
- Assist in the development and delivery of presentation decks for internal and customer meetings
- Liaise with sales, R&D, and executive teams to ensure marketing aligns with product capabilities and customer needs
- Coordinate and track marketing activities and results across CRM, analytics, and internal systems
- Support conference and trade show participation-pre-event prep, materials development, lead follow-up
- Draft press releases and coordinate approvals, ensuring messaging aligns with brand and product goals; respond to media inquiries and support participation in earned media opportunities by preparing talking points and background materials.
- Maintain organized marketing asset libraries (logos, images, templates, etc.).
- Ensure timely and accurate updates to websites, email platforms, and social media.
- Represent the Nutra division professionally during virtual or in-person meetings with customers and partners.
- Participate in competitive analysis, customer research, and industry trend monitoring.
- Create or assist in capturing and editing basic video or photo content.
- Provide marketing support to adjacent departments or sister companies as needed.
- Bachelor\'s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, preferably in Agriculture.
- 3+ years of experience in a marketing role, preferably in B2B or ingredient/ food/ nutraceutical industries, or agricultural industries that relate such as fresh produce.
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
- Hands-on experience with social media, email marketing, and website updates.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva.
- Experience with HubSpot or a similar marketing automation and CRM platform is preferred, as this role will support lead generation, email marketing, contact management, social media and reporting efforts within our marketing system.
- Experience in food ingredients, supplements, beverages, or natural product sectors.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and digital marketing platforms.
- Light photography and video editing skills.
- Passion for functional food and wellness categories.
This role requires strong project management and communication skills to collaborate effectively with external marketing agencies, designers, freelance creatives, and other outside vendors. The Marketing Specialist will serve as a key point of contact, ensuring partners are aligned with brand guidelines, campaign objectives, and deadlines. From briefing creative teams to reviewing deliverables, this person will be responsible for driving projects forward, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring that all outsourced work supports the strategic goals of the Nutra division.
Travel, Trade Shows, and On-Site Content CaptureWeekly to monthly travel is required to support trade show participation and on-site marketing initiatives at our mushroom farms and production facilities. This includes coordinating and assisting with video and photo shoots, gathering behind-the-scenes content, and producing material for use in digital marketing, social media, and customer-facing platforms. The Marketing Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the content captured is consistent with brand storytelling and messaging while helping to document and showcase the people, processes, and products that set Monterey Mushrooms apart.
